Blogging and Stress

The Race to the Bottom has been in operation for about 15 months.  For a short history of the blog, go here.  Over time, the Blog has become a regular participant in the debate over shareholder rights, receiving an average of 1000 or so page views each weekday.  The Blog posts every weekday, often twice a day, and frequently on Saturday.  The Blog has been cited by one court and, according to one platform that ranks law blogs, is the 81st most popular law blog

Maintaining the Blog, however, takes considerable work.  So we were please to see the piece in the New York Times on acknowledging the stress incurred by those bloggers devoted to their task.  As the article noted:

  • A growing work force of home-office laborers and entrepreneurs, armed with computers and smartphones and wired to the hilt, are toiling under great physical and emotional stress created by the around-the-clock Internet economy that demands a constant stream of news and comment.

The article mentioned sleep disorders and weight gain, among other ailments.  So keep that in mind the next time you see a typo or modest mistake in the contents of a post.  Let us know; we are happy to fix any error.  But remember in phrasing that complaint or caustic comment that the service is free (we don't accept any advertising), the work relentless, and the health consequence pronounced!

Okay. Then I won't tell you that two weeks ago you mispelled the country, "Colombia" by using the spelling for the university in New York City. Seriously, however, your errors are few and I recommend your blog frequently.
