Law Blogs v. Rockers: CItations in Court Opinions
J. Robert Brown |
Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 09:28AM We have reported on this Blog the growing number of courts that have cited law blogs. The numbers are relatively small when compared with traditional law reviews but are growing. The NYT on Sunday provided another benchmark for assessing the number of citations: The most cited rockers. So we provide a comparison.
Rockers Law Blog
1. Bob Dylan (26) Sentencing Law and Policy -- 28
2. Paul Simon/Simon & Garfunkel (12) Volokh Conspiracy -------------- 3
3. Bruce Springsteen (5) ProfessorBainbridge ------------ 3
4. The Rolling Stones (4) Ideoblog ----------------------------- 2
5. The Beatles (3) Prawfs Blawg --------------------- 1
6. The Grateful Dead (2) Legal Theory Blog --------------- 1
7. Joni Mitchell (1) LessigBlog ------------------------- 1
Instapundit ------------------------- 1
Immigration Law Prof Blog --- 1
Patently O ------------------------- 1
The Race to the Bottom ------ 1
Rockers currently have the lead with 53 total cites compared with 43 for law blogs (as of February 2008). Of course Rockers have been around longer (Bob Dylan released is first album in 1962). A few more years and the Law Blogs should have the Rockers entirely vanquished. But for now we particularly appreciate the comparison between Steve Bainbridge and Bruce Springsteen (both ranked #3 in their respective lists), perhaps the nickname "The Boss" appropriate for both!
