The SEC, Bear Stearns and the Failure of Regulatory Oversight: The Unredacted Version (Part 6)

We have been writing about the differences between the complete and redacted version of the report by the SEC's Inspector General on the Agency's supervision of Bear Stearns.  A very nice post on the subject is up on Concurring Opinions, with Larry Cunningham at GW providing both additional examples of the deletions, appropriately noting the following:

  • The failed cover up is ironic for an agency charged with promoting transparency in corporate America. It makes a mockery of today's SEC roundtable on how the SEC can help investors by promoting corporate transparency.
